Entity network graph

Entity network graphs: see how UK companies connect

A company rarely stands alone. The entity network graph starts from one company, adds its directors and secretaries, then follows each of them to the other companies they are appointed to, so hidden links between businesses become visible.

Example entity network: a company linked to two active officers and one former officer, each linked to their other companies
The Entity Network tab on a company page starts from that company, adds its directors and secretaries with their role on each link, then follows every officer to the other companies they are appointed to. Filter directors and companies by active or former, search for a name, zoom, and switch between top-down, left-right and radial layouts. Names in these examples are fictional.

How it works

From one company to its whole network

Open the Entity Network tab on any company. The company sits at the top, its directors and secretaries below it with their role on each link, and every officer leads on to the other companies they are appointed to.

Colour-coded at a glance

Active officers are amber and former officers are faded. Companies are coloured as active, resigned or dissolved, and a key on the graph explains every colour.

Filter, search and change the layout

Show all, active or former directors and companies, search for an entity or officer by name, zoom in and out, recentre, and switch between top-down, left-right and radial layouts.

Networks for people too

Every director page has its own network graph: the person, all of their companies, and the co-directors they share them with, filterable by active, dissolved or resigned companies and current or past co-directors.

The interactive network graph is part of the Pro plan.

Inside EntityDNA

Director network graph

A director's Network tab puts the person at the top and every company they have been appointed to below, coloured as active, dissolved or resigned. Co-directors hang off the companies they share, marked current or past. Filter companies and co-directors, and see the counts at a glance.

Questions

What is an entity network?

An entity network maps the relationships between companies and the people who run them, so you can see which businesses are connected through shared officers.

How is the network built?

From officer appointments on the Companies House register. Each officer of the starting company is linked to the other companies they are appointed to.

Can I see networks for a person instead of a company?

Yes. Director pages have their own network view centred on that person.

Can I show only current officers or active companies?

Yes. Filter directors and companies by all, active or former, and switch between top-down, left-right and radial layouts.
